Keyword: Speaking Skill, Digital Storytelling, Seventh Graders Most of the educational technology, resources, and products use English as the language to bridge among people in the world. In fact, technology is being studied by teachers and implemented into classrooms for a positive effect on student learning. Many teachers have been integrating multimedia tools in teaching students different skills. When teachers use technology, they learn to convert data into information and transform information into knowledge. This research was aimed to improve the seventh graders’ speaking skill and their classroom activities through the implementation of Digital Storytelling Media. The seventh graders students were expected to be more confient when speak English, enrich their vocabulary and develop their idea. Therefore, this study was directed to (1) implement the beneficial of Digital Storytelling Media that closely related to the seventh graders’ everyday activities at their home and school (2) explore how digital storytelling can be an effective tool for both teachers and students in order to support speaking skill. The data were collected from seventh graders of SMP N 1 Seyegan Bantul. The researcher collected the data through observation, interview the teachers, questionare, and also pre-test and posttest. The researcher gave the material use Digital Storytelling Media, then the students describe what they had got from the story. The researcher used Classroom Action Research that contained with four stages for each cycle, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The result showed that there was a significant improvement from the pre-test and post-test. The mean score of the pre-test was 5.6 while the result of the post-test of cycle 1 was 7.8 and the result of posttest of cycle 2 was 8.0. The result of interview and questioner showed that digital storytelling could improve the students’ motivation and interest in speaking and eventually develop their speaking skill sing English. In conclusion, digital storytelling succeed improving seventh graders’ speaking skill since it was presented in creative and interesting way. As recommendation, digital storytelling could be an effective media to teach speaking and used as one of the source for learning English. ABSTRAK Arifiah, Dian. 2017. Keyword: Speaking Skill, Digital Storytelling, Seventh Graders Hampir semua tekhnologi pendidikan, sumber belajar dan produk produk menggunakan Bahasa Inggris sebagai penghubung setiap orang di dunia. Faktanya, tekhnologi telah dipelajari oleh guru guru dan diimplementasikan ke dalam kelas untuk memberikan efek yang positif dalam pembelajaran siswa. Banyak guru yang menggabungkan multimedia dalam pengajaran ketrampilan yang berbeda beda. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa kelas tujuh dan aktifitas kelas dengan menerapkan Media Digital Storytelling. Siswa kelas tujuh diharapakan lebih percaya diri ketika berbicara menggunakan Bahasa Inggris, memperkaya kosa-kata, dan mengembangkan ide mereka. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini secara langsung meneliti (1) manfaat dari Media Digital Storytelling yang berhubungan langsung dengan kehidupan sehari-hari siswa di rumah maupun sekolah, (2) meneliti bagaimana Digital Storytelling bisa menjadi media yang efektif baik untuk guru maupun siswa sehingga bisa mendukung kemapuan berbicara siswa. Data dikumpulkan dari siswa kelas tujuh SMP N 1 Seyegan Bantul. Peneliti telah mengumpulkan data melalui observasi, wawancara guru, kuisioner dan juga test. Peneliti memberikan materi menggunakan media Digital Storytelling, kemudian siswa akan mendeskripsikan kembali sesuai dengan apa yang mereka dapat dari Digital Storytelling. Peneliti menggunakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang terdiri dari empat tingkat yaitu perencanaan, aksi, observasi, dan refleksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan yang signifikan dari hasil pre-test dan post-test. Nilai rata-rata pre-test yaitu 5.6 sedangkan post-test sirkel 1 yaitu 7.8, dan hasil post-test sirkel 2 yaitu 8.0. Hasil interview dan questioner menunjukkan bahwa digital storytelling bisa meningkatkan motivasi dan ketertarikan siswa dalam berbicara dan tentunya meningkatkan kemapuan berbicara menggunakan bahasa Inggris. Kesimpulannya, digital storytelling sukses meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa kelas tujuh sejak itu disajikan dengan cara yang kreatif dan menarik. Sebagai rekomendasi, digital storytelling bisa menjadi media yang efektif untuk mengajar speaking dan bisa digunakan sebagai salah satu sumber untuk belajar bahasa Inggris.
