PENGARUH LAMA PERENDAMAN DAN KONSENTRASI KALIUM NITRAT TERHADAP VIABILITAS DAN VIGOR BIBIT SIRSAK

INTISARI

Kulit biji sirsak bersifat keras dan impermeabel (kedap terhadap oksigen dan air) sehingga benih sirsak dorman. Pematahan dormansi benih dapat dilakukan dengan perendamanan benih dalam larutan kimia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui konsentrasi larutan Kalium Nitrat dan lama perendaman atau kombinasi antara konsentrasi larutan Kalium Nitrat dan lama perendaman yag terbaik untuk perkecambahan dan pertumbuhan bibit sirsak. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di kebun percobaan Universitas Mercu Buana Yogyakarta Gunung Bulu, Argomulyo, Sedayu, Bantul. Pada bulan September sampai dengan November 2016. Penelitian ini merupakan percobaan faktorial 4x2 yang disusun dalam rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan empat ulangan. Faktor pertama adalah konsentrasi larutan Kalium Nitrat (K) terdiri atas empat aras yaitu 0,4; 0,6; 0,8 dan 1,2 %. Faktor kedua adalah lama perendaman (L) terdiri atas dua aras yaitu 24 dan 48 jam. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan tidak ada interaksi antara konsentrasi Kalium Nitrat dan lama perendaman benih pada viabilitas dan vigor bibit sirsak. Perkecambahan benih sirsak yang direndam 24 jam dan 48 jam tidak beda nyata tetapi vigor bibit sirsak benih yang direndam selama 48 jam beih baik dari pada perendaman 24 jam dan perlakuan konsentrasi Kalium Nitrat sampai 1,2 % belum meningkatkan viabilitas dan vigor bibit sirsak.

EFFECT OF SOAKING DURATION AND CONCENTRATION OF POTASSIUM NITRATE ON VIABILITY AND SEEDLING VIGOR OF SOURSOP

ABSTRACT

Soursop seed coat is hard and impermeable (impermeable to water and oxygen) so that the soursop seed is dormant. Dormant seed breeking can be done by soaking the seeds in a chemical solution. The aim of this research was to know the concentration of Potassium Nitrate solution and the duration of soaking or combination of Potassium Nitrate solution concentration and soaking duration for germination and growth of soursop seedling. This research was conducted in experimental garden of University of Mercu Buana Yogyakarta Gunung Bulu, Argomulyo, sedayu, Bantul. at September until November 2016. This experiment was a 4x2 factorial experiment arranged in a completeed randomized design (RAL) with four replications. The first factor was the concentration of Potassium Nitrate (K) solution consisting of four levels of 0,4; 0.6; 0.8 and 1.2%. The second factor was the soaking duration (L) consisting of two levels ie 24 and 48 hours. The result research showed no interaction between pottasium nitrate concentration and soaking duration in viability and seedling vigor of soursop. The germination of soursop seeds soaked 24 hours and 48 hours were not significantly different but vigor of soursop seedling soaked for 48 hours was better than that of soaked for 24 hours and the treatment of potassium nitrate concentrasion of less than or equal 1.2% did not increase the viability and seedling vigor of soursop.
