Limbah kantin yang meliputi nasi, berbagai potongan lauk pauk, potongan sayuran mentah meliputi potongan kangkung, bayam, kulit wortel, kol, sawi,jagung, sosin, daun singkong, daun melinjo, kacang panjang, daun bawang, seledri, kulit kentang, dan daun kelapa bungkus ketupat perlu penanganan yang tepat agar tidak mengganggu lingkungan. Salah satu metode penanganannya adalah dengan menjadikan sebagai substrat biogas. Penelitian ini bertujuan utuk mengetahui potensi biogas yang dihasilkan dan mengetahui pengaruh pemisahan jenis limbah kantin dalam menghasilkan biogas Penelitian dilakukan dalam 3 tahap yaitu: (1) persiapan sampel berupa pemisahan limbah menurut jenisnya menjadi limbah campuran, limbah buah dan limbah selain buah, dipotong dan sebagian dikeringkan, (2) karakterisasi sampel meliputi analisis kadar air, kadar abu, total solid, volatile solid, lemak, total N, gula total dan pati, (3) fermentasi biogas yangkemudian diukur jumlah gasmetana dan gas karbodiosida yang dihasilkan menggunakan GC. Kemudian dari hasil karakterisasi dibandingkan gas metana yang seharusnya dihasilkan (secara teoritis) dengan gas metana yang dihasilkan pada proses fermentasi biogas. Proses pemisahan limbah padat organik Kantin FTP UGM menurut jenisnya tidak memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap yield meetan yang dihasilkan. Limbah buah secara teoritis metana yang dihasilkan 3,22 Nm3CH4/kgVS, hasil analisis fermentasinya adalah 1,40 Nm3CH4/kgVS dengan rasio yield 43,51%. Limbah campuran dengan Metana teoritis 2,84 Nm3CH4/kgVS, hasil fermentasi 1,29 Nm3CH4/kgVS, dengan rasio yield 45,53%. Limbah selainbuahdenganmetanateoritis 2,70 Nm3CH4/kgVS , hasil fermentasi 1,20 Nm3CH4/kgVS, dengan rasio yield 44%.

CH4AND CO2 GAS DETERMINATION IN BIOGAS OF ORGANIC SOLID CANTEEN WASTEFACULTY OF AGRICULTURAL AND TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITAS GADJAH MADA

Canteen wastes covering rice, various side dishes, raw vegetable pieces include chunks of kale, spinach, carrot skin, cabbage, mustard, corn, sosin, cassava leaves, melinjo leaves, long beans, green onions, celery, potato skins and leaves coconut wrap ketupat need treatment so as not to disturb the environment. One method of handling is to make as a substrate of biogas.This research aims to know the potential of biogas produced and to know the effect of separation of canteen waste types in producing biogas. The research was conducted in three phases: (1) sample preparation form of separation of waste by type into mixed waste, fruit skin waste and waste other than fruit skin, cut and partially dried, (2) characterization of samples including water content analysis, ash content, total solid , Volatile solid, fat, total N, total sugar and starch, (3) biogas fermentation which then measuredmethane yieldusing GC. Then comparedthe result. The process of separating organic solid canteen waste of UGM FTP Cafeteria by type does not give significant effect to methane yield produced. The fruit waste theoretical of methane produced 3,22 Nm3CH4/kgVS, the result of fermentation analysis is 1,40 Nm3CH4/kgVS with yield ratio 43,51%. Waste mixture with theoretical methane 2,84 Nm3CH4/kgVS, fermentation yield 1,29 Nm3CH4/kgVS, with yield ratio 45,53%. Waste other than fruit with theoretical methane2,70 Nm3CH4/kgVS, fermented yield1,20 Nm3CH4/kgVS, with yield ratio 44%.
