Abstract
Parenting communication has an essential role in children's growth and
development. Communication between parents and children contributes
significantly to creating fair and effective relationships, understanding and
mutual acceptance between parents and children; and one of which is about their
sex life. This study concerns the parenting communication types used by parents
in Ben Taylor's Sex Education Series. The main focus of this study is
underlining how parenting communication is applied in daily communication
regarding sex education for adolescents. To solve the problem, a descriptive
qualitative study is used, accompanied by an in-depth analysis. The result shows
there are four types of parenting communication in the series such as democratic,
authoritarian, permissive and univolving communication; which definitely give
crucial contribution in adolescents' sex life.
