Abstract
This research aimed at designing The Giant Snake and Ladder 3D
(GSL-3D) for young learners’ listening-speaking skill in private
elementary school. This was a Research and Development (R&D)
which developed ADDIE model consisting of five phases; they are
analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. This
research was conducted to fifth the graders of private elementary school
in Yogyakarta. The data were collected by using instruments, such as
interview, observation, questionnaire, documentation, and test. The
implementation of this research was based on the result of early
observation showing that students needed media to involve physical
activities for learning English, especially for listening-speaking skill.
Based on the result of data analysis process, it showed that (1) a media
and content expert judgment showed that the score of media was 98%
and the score of content was 99,25%; (2) the Focus Group Discussion
from English teacher and students of private elementary school in
Yogyakarta showed that The Giant Snake and Ladder 3D was
categorized “very good”, 96% and 90,4%; (3) the result of pre-test and
post test which showed an increasing as follows: the score of listening
skill 68 became 100 and speaking skill 64 became 82. The result of this
research showed that this media was appropriate for teaching learning
English, especially listening-speaking skill for fifth graders. The Giant
Snake and Ladder 3D is expected to be used any elementary school in
Indonesia.
