Being adolescence is a developing process from children to adult. Generally they are
unstable both emotional and personal, because they are still on the process of self-identity
search. In this situation they become vulnerable in their social environment. The aim of
this study specifically to analyze about the character and the love relationship problem in
a novel entitled Don’t You Forget About Me written by Alexandra Potter.
The focus of this research is to analyze the love relationship by the main character
Tes through a psycho social approach. The purpose of this study are (1) to describe Tes’
personality in the novel (2) to present Tes’ love relationship in the novel (3) how does
Tes’ love relationship influence her life both social and personal in Don’t You Forget
About Me novel. The study employed library study and descriptive qualitative analysis
method. The data of the study are from the novel and other supporting documents. The
data taken into the study are sentences, phrases, and words related to the Tes’ love
relationship problem in psycho social perspective.
The research shared the findings that can be concluded firstly, Tes is characterized as
a smart, independent, inferior, introvert and independent girl. Secondly, Tes’ love
relationship problems came from the lack of passion, intimacy and commitment between
Seb and Tes. Thirdly, Tes’ love relationship problems influence her personal life in which
she pretends to become someone else to make her boyfriend happy; and give impact to
her social life which makes her being introvert, like to be alone and does not want interact
to others.
