Abstract

The purpose of the research is to describe the effectiveness of mathematics
learning method through group to group model towards the activities, motivation,
and mathematics learning output to the students of class VIII SMP Negeri 1
Sedayu. The research was quasi experimental which used pre-test post-test
control group design. There were two groups on the research, they were
experimental group and control group.
The population of the research was all of the students of class VIII SMP
Negeri 1 Sedayu that consist of seven classes and the total of students were 224
students. The sample of the research were class VIII F and VIII G that had taken
from recommendation from Mathematics teacher of class VIII of SMP Neegeri 1
Sedayu. Class VIII F was experimental class which used group to group model,
then class VIII G was control group which used conventional method. The
instrument of the research were learning output test, observation sheet of learning
activity, and questionnaire of learning motivation. Manova test was used to find
the differences of effectiveness of using group to group model and conventional
method. Independent sample t-test was used to identify the variable which more
effective to the activities, motivation, and learning output.
The result of the research shows that there are some different effectiveness
in using group to group model and conventional method to the activities,
motivation, and learning output of class VIII in SMP Negeri 1 Sedayu. The
research show that group to group model is much effective to the activities,
motivation, and learning output of students class VIII of SMP Negeri 1 Sedayu.
