Abstract

The research aims to describe the impact of Think Pair Share (TPS) method toward mathematics learning to the ability of solving problem in eight grade of SMP N 1 Seyegan. The research is experimental research which has pretest-posttest control group design. The research conducted six (6) classes with 192 students. Whereas, the sampel taken from purpossive sampling in two (2) classes, they are class VIII A and class VIII C. By this research, class VIII A consist of 32 students identified as experimental research thus by the learning mathematics which used TPS method. While class VIII C consist of 32 students is control group thus by the learning mathematic which used conventional method. Futhermore, the instrument of the research is the test of ability to solving problem and observation students’ learning activeness sheet. In addition, to know the differences of using TPS method and conventional method manova test is used for this research, and independent-sample t-test is used to find the most method that influence to the ability of solving problem and students’ activeness. The result of this research showed that TPS method have impact toward ability of solving problem and students’ learning activeness, and the research showed that TPS method give more influence than conventional method to the ability of solving problem and students’ learning activeness in eight grade of SMP N 1 Seyegan.
