Abstract

The research aimed to describes the impact of mathematics learning of eight grader students of SMP Negeri 1 Pajangan who were follows learning process through Model-Elicting Activities (MEAs) and conventional method. The research was quasi experiment through pretest-posttest control group design. The variable were 2 variables, there weere independent variable in the form of learning model and dependent variable in the form of ability of mathematics communication and students’ concept understanding. The population were 150 students’ of grade eight. The sample taken by using cluster random sampling technique. The instrument were communication ability of mathematics test and students’ concept understanding. Manova test was used to identify the differentiation of using MEAs and conventional method, then independent-sample t-test was used to identify which variable that more influence to the ability of mathematics communication and students’ concept undestanding. The result of the research showed that there were differences of influence in learning mathematics of eight grader students’ of SMP Negeri 1 Pajangan who were follows learning process through Model-Elicting Activities (MEAs) and conventional method. In the same line, Model-Elicting Activities (MEAs) was more influence than conventional method in SMP Negeri 1 Pajangan.
