Abstract
Accounting Department is one of theStudy Programsin Faculty of Economics, University of Mercu Buana Yogyakarta whose vision is being the excellent, qualify, useful, and able to reach the international standard in 2021. Therefore, mastering English language is one ways to achieve it. The change of new 2017 curriculum requires Accounting Department to have the latest English teaching instructional instrument such as curriculum, syllabus, lesson plan and even text book as a guidance to support teaching and learning process. Unfortunately, the English syllabus is still using the syllabus based on the 2012 curriculum. From this case, it will be not maximally in teaching and learning process and achieving the faculty’s goal. This research was aimed to redesignEnglish syllabus of English for Business subject in Accounting Department based on the 2017 Qualification Framework (KKNI) Curriculum which requiresstudents to be more skillful inEnglish speaking and writing andto prepare them in facing fieldwork of accounting. Therefore, this research was specifically intended to: 1) find out the need analysis of redesigned English syllabus for Accounting Department and; 2) present the redesigned English syllabus for Accounting Department. This research included into Research and Development (R&D) which usedADDIE ( Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate) as the model. The needs analysis data were gained from the students, alumni, the English lecturer of accounting, and the head of accounting department. The data then clarified using interviewsquestionnaires, observation, and documentation as the instruments to gain the data whichwere analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. The data of this research taken from sixth semester of English Business class of Accounting Department university of Mercu Buana Yogyakarta. Theoretically, the concept of the product employed Competence-based learning and 2017 Qualification Framework (KKNI) Curriculum which included the knowledge, skills, and attitude in the learning goals. The redesigned syllabus included learning objectives, performance assessment, and learning strategy. Empirically, the result of expert validation showed score which was indicate that the model was good. As recommendation, the syllabus could be used as one of the source in learning English for English for Business subject in Accounting Department of University of Mercu Buana Yogyakarta
