Abstract

This research purpose to describe the effect of Group Investigation learning model toward grade VIII students’ learning interest and math problem solving ability in State Junior High School I Nanggulan Kulon Progo, academic year of 2016/2017. This research is a quasi-experiment research using pretest – posttest control group design. This research used 2 (two) groups which were experiment group and control group. The population of this research was all of grade VIII students in State Junior High School I Nanggulan Kulon Progo. The Purposive Sampling sample took two classes which were VIII E class and VIII F class as the samples.
VIII E class used conventional model for math learning meanwhile VIII F used Group Investigation learning model. The research instruments were students’ learning interest questionnaire and math problem solving test. Manova test was used to find out the differences of influences between Group Investigation model and conventional model. The following test was Independent - Sample t-test. Independent-Sample t-test was used to find out which variable that could give better effects toward the difference between Group investigation model and Conventional model.
The result of the research shows that there are differences of learning effect between Group Investigation model and conventional model toward students’ learning interest as well as math problem solving ability in State Junior High School I Nanggulan. The result of the research also shows that Group Investigation learning model has better effect toward students’ learning interest as well as math problem solving ability in State Junior High School I Nanggulan.
