PEMANFAATAN TEPUNG PUPA ULAT SUTRERA (Bombyx mori) UNTUK PAKAN PUYUH (Coturnix-coturnix japonica) JANTAN

This research was conducted to investigate the effect of the usage of
silk worms (Bombyx mori) pupa in rations on male quail performance. It used
120 male quails of 7 days old which were divided in to 5 treatments. Each
treatment consisted of 3 replicationa, and 8 quails for eac replication. The
level of silk worms (Bombyx mori) pupa meal in rations were respectively 0;
2,5; 5; 7,5; and 10%. The performances were feed consumption, ADG, feed
conversion, mortality and carcass weight. This research was designed One
Way Completely Randomized Design, and the data were analyzed by
variance analysis and the significant results were tested by Duncan’s New
Multiple Range Tesr (DMRT). The results showed that the performance of
male quail were not affected by the treatment. Feed consumtion were
respectively 10,77; 10,74; 10,76; 10,78 and 10,76 g/quail/day. ADG were 2,27;
2,18; 2,10; 2,16 and 2,10 g/quail/day. FFed conversions were 4,73; 4,92; 5,12;
4,97 and 5,12. Carcass weight were 69,16; 68,67; 69,15; 67,40 and 68,19 %.
It was concluded that silk worms (Bombyx mori) pupa a meal may be
substituting fish meal up to 10 % level of the total rations.
