Abstract
The study was conducted to determine the effect of differences in age and sex on carcass and non carcass
production of local rabbits. The study was designed using Complete Randomized Design (CRD) was a 2x2 factorial pattern
of the first factors were the age (6 and 12 months) and the second factors were the sex (male and female), each of 3
replications, so the number of rabbits were used as much as 12 heads. Variables measured in this study were body weight,
carcass weight and percentage of carcass, weight and percentage of meat, weight and percentage of bone, meat-bone
ratio, edible and non edible offal. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA), if there were significant difference
then followed by Duncan's New Multiple Range test (DMRT). The results showed a significant interaction effect between age
and sex on body weight, carcass weight, meat weight, bone weight and the weight of edible offal. While the percentage of
carcasses, meat percentage, the percentage of bone, meat-bone ratio and non edible offal showing the effect were not
significant.. From the research results can be concluded that the highest of carcass and meat production is 12-month old
female rabbit
