Abstract

This research aimed at designing An Islamic English Workbook based
on 2013 curriculum and the need of the students. An Islamic English
Work Book was used for Madrasah Tsanawiyah or Islamic school
which was different from the general school. There are four skills in this
work book: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. This is a Research
and Development (R&D) which developed ADDIE model consisting of
five phases; they are analysis, design, development, implementation,
and evaluation. This research was conducted at one of eighth graders of
Madrasah Tsanawiyah in first semester in Kulon Progo. The data were
collected by using some instruments. Those were class observation,
interview to the teacher, questionnaire for students, documentation, and
test. In the early observation, the data showed that the students needed a
media for their learning as An Islamic English Work Book. It supposed
to be interesting, easy in teaching learning process, and help the students
to study by themselves. An Islamic English Work Book could be said as
a good media based on the final score of pre and post-test which
showed 5.09 for pre-test and 7,83 for post-test. The students’ score were
increasing and it has reached the standard. It showed that the media was
good to be implemented in first semester of eighth graders on English
subject.
