Abstract

THE EFFECT OF TURMERIC AND CINNAMON SPICE SUPPLEMENTATION ON THE PRODUCTION PERFORMANCE OF BREEDER QUAIL By : ROKHFANA INDRA JATI 12021012 ABSTRACT*) The aim of this research was to investigate the effect of spice supplementation (turmeric and cinnamon) on the production performance of quail. The research used one way completely randomized design with four treatments; R1, R2, R3 and R4 and 1.5%, respectively, each with three replicates. Research was conducted from 12 June to 17 July 2016 using 252 female and 36 male day old quials (DOQ). The observed parameters were feed intake, egg production, egg weight and feed conversion ratio of egg (FCR). Data were subject to analysis of factorial using one way completely randomized design, followed by Duncan test in case of significant difference (SPSS 17.0 version). Result showed feed intake of R1, R2, R3 and R4 was 836.5, 823.9, 820.2 and 800.8 g/duck/42 days, respectively. Egg weight of R1, R2, R3 and R4 was 11.05, 10.84, 11.16 and 11.18 gram/egg, respectively. Quail Day Average (QDA) of R1, R2, R3 and R4 was 68.17, 70.73, 74.37 and 74.13%, respectively. Feed Convertion Rasio (FCR) of R1, R2, R3 and R4 was 6.090, 6.213, 6.007 and 5.800, respectively. Analysis of variance indicated that production performance (QDA, FCR, KP) was significantly different (P < 0,05), while egg weight was not significantly different. In conclusion, spice supplementation (turmeric and cinnamon) in level R4 (1.5%) in feed decreased feed intake, improved feed conversion, increased Quail Day Average (QDA) of quail egg and maintained egg weight. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap pola searah terdiri dari empat perlakuan yaitu penambahan rempah R1 0%, R2 0,5%, R3 1%, dan R4 1,5%. Setiap perlakuan terdiri dari tiga ulangan dan waktu penelitian dilakukan pada tanggal 12 Juni sampai 17 Juli 2016. Parameter yang diamati adalah kinerja produksi meliputi konsumsi pakan, produksi telur, bobot telur, dan feed Convertion Rasio (FCR) telur. Ternak yang digunakan adalah burung puyuh (jantan dan betina) umur satu hari/Day Old Quail (DOQ). Adapun jumlah puyuh yang digunakan adalah 252 ekor betina dan 36 ekor puyuh jantan. Data penelitian dianalisis dengan analisis variansi dalam rancangan acak lengkap pola searah, jika berbeda nyata dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan (SPSS Versi 17.0). Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh data konsumsi pakan puyuh pembibit selama penelitian untuk R1 (836,5) R2 (823,9) R3 (820,2) R4 (800,8) g/ekor/42 hari. Bobot telur puyuh R1 (11,05) R2 (10,84) R3 (11,16) R4 (11,18) gram/butir. Quail Day Average (QDA) telur puyuh R1 (68,17) R2 (70,73) R3 (74,37) R4 (74,13)%. Feed Convertion Rasio (FCR) telur puyuh R1 (6,090) R2 (6,213) R3 (6,007) R4 (5,800). Berdasarkan hasil analisis variansi diketahui bahwa kinerja produksi (QDA, FCR, KP) berbeda nyata (P < 0,05), sedangkan kinerja produksi (Berat Telur) tidak berbeda nyata. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penambahan rempah (kunyit dan kayu manis) pada level R4 1,5% dalam pakan menurunkan konsumsi pakan dan memperbaiki konversi pakan dan dapat meningkatkan Quail Day Average (QDA) telur puyuh, serta mempertahankan berat telur.
