Abstract
The purpose of the research are to describe the impact of open ended aproach and role play method to the ability of students creative thinking in class VIII of SMPN 1 Seyegan academic year 2016/2017.
The research was mien experimental research used pretest-postttest control group design. The research used two groups experimental, they are open ended approach and role play method. The population of the research was students of class VIII consists of six classes. The sample taken randomly of two classes, they are class VIII E and VIII F.The learning mathematics in class VIII E used open ended approach and learning mathematics in class VIII F used role play method. The instrument of the research was test of the ability of students creative thinking. In order to know the differences the impact between the treatment of group open ended method and role play method F test is used. in addition, to know which variable that more influence, independent sample t test is used.
Tthe result of the research show that there are some differences impact in using open ended approach and role play method to the ability of students creative thinking of SMPN 1 Seyegan. The result show that open ended approach more influence to the students creative thinking.
