Abstract

This study aimed to determine the relationship between academic self-concept and
academic resilience in college student. This study proposed the hypothesis of a positive
relationship between academic self-concept and academic resilience in college student. The
subject in this study were 100 students of psychology in Mercu Buana Yogyakarta
University. The data collection used were the Academic Self-Concept scale and Academic
Resilience scale. The data analysis technique used was the product-moment correlation of
Karl Pearson. Based on the result, the data analysis obtained a correlation coefficient (rxy)
of 0,822 with p = 0,000 (p < 0,01). The result indicated that there was a significant positive
relationship between academic self-concept and academic resilience in college student. The
hypothesis acceptance in this study shows the coefficient of determination (R2) of 0,676,
meaning that the academic self-concept variable provided an effective contribution of
67,6% to academic resilience variable; while the remaining 32,4% was influenced by other
factors.
