Abstract

This research aims to design “Maze Explorer” game to teach readingwriting skills for young learners. The method of this research is R&D
(Research and Development) which uses ADDIE (Analysis, Design,
Development, Implementation and Evaluation) from Robert Maribe
Branch. The product of this study is game named “Maze Explorer”
which involves physical activities of young learners in learning
English for reading-writing skills. This product was implemented in
private elementary school in Yogyakarta grade 2 that consisted of 25
participants. The implementation of this research was based on the
result of early observation showed that the class never used a game
that involved physical activities in teaching English. Data analysis
used in this research was qualitative technique. The result of the
research showed by the result of validation by material experts which
got mean score of 4.4 which include in “excellent” category. It was
also shown by the result of validation by media experts which got
mean score of 4.4 include in “excellent” category. The result of the
young learners’ response after using the product got the mean score of
4.3 which include in “excellent” category. Based on those result,
“Maze Explorer” game appropiate to teach reading-writing skill for
young learners.
