FAMILY CONFLICTS IN WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE’S KING LEAR

This study is intended to find out the family conflict which is happened
in the King Lear family. There are two problems which become basic
question; (1) What is the conflict in the King Lear family? (2) What is
the effect of the conflict in the King Lear family? To get the answer to
the two question mentioned, a library study was carried out. It is done
by studying the information and source which were got from internet,
referential book and article. Psychological approach is used to
analyze the story, since the formation related to the psychological
elements. The result shows three conflicts within King Lear famil,
namely between parents and daughters; between relatives or siblings;
and between partnership relationship. Conflicts in King Lear family
causes two impact, positive and negative. The negative impact of
family conflict is the breakdown of relationships among family
members, the personality changes occur in the individual. Positive
impact of family conflicts is a sense of solidarity among nonconflicting family members, reducing dependence among family
members, create a new compromise, new compromise, raising
awareness.
