Abstract
This study aims to determine perception of English Education Department
students’ towards Pecha Kucha presentation method in speaking class of first
semester students of the English language education study program, Faculty of
Teacher Training and Education, in one of the private university in Yogyakarta.
This study used a descriptive qualitative method and for data collection it
applied a questionnaire consisting of 15 questions for students and interview.
Data were taken from 14 students in a speaking class. The result of this research
shows that students gave positive perception towards the implementation of
Pecha Kucha presentation method in their speaking class. The results of the
questionnaire and interview shows that Pecha Kucha is suitable to be applied in
speaking class because it can support students' speaking skills. Respondents
also received several benefits from Pecha Kucha presentation method namely
increasing their skill to speak English fluently because they enjoy the
presentation with a limited time and images that seem challenging for the
students.
